Brattleboro Memorial Hospital is launching a community-wide contest in November, called BEARDS FOR BMH, to raise awareness about men’s health issues.
BEARDS FOR BMH participants will shave their face clean on November 1 then grow their beards over the next 30 days. The facial hair growth serves as a conversation starter that enables participants to share with friends and co-workers important facts and statistics (provided by BMH) about prostate cancer, testicular cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and other health issues affecting men.
Participants must make a minimum donation of $10 to register, and must sign-up at least 10 sponsors. BMH is asking participants to share weekly photos on the BMH Facebook page so everyone can see how the beards are coming along. Prizes will be given out for the most sponsorships, largest amount raised, most posting on BMH Facebook page, longest beard and craziest beard.
To take part in BEARDS FOR BMH, please contact Nicole Zinn in the Office of Development and Community Relations at 802-251-8490 or email nzinn@bmhvt.org.
