On Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Brattleboro Memorial Hospital will be offering a free workshop, open to the public titled: “Bone Health: Make It Or Break It” in the Brew Barry Conference Room. Featured speakers will be Maureen Mahoney, PA-C, Certified Athletic Trainer, of BMH Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and Margaret Ferry, MD, Board Certified Internal Medicine and Endocrinology/Metabolism. The workshop will focus on how our bones are affected by multiple factors, which can affect our risk of fractures and influence how we heal after injury. Low bone mass can be caused by hormones, hyperthyroidism, Celiac disease, eating disorders and exercise disorders among other common illnesses. Once a fracture occurs, the risk for having another fracture can increase.

“Whether through injury or age, we are all affected by bone health,” says Maureen Mahoney, PA-C. “It is never too late to learn what you can do to make adjustments in your life style to offset what may have been missed in the prevention of bone loss.”

The workshop is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served. Please call 802-257-8877 or visit www.bmhvt.org for more information or to register.
