FREE PROSTATE CANCER SCREENINGS AT BMH

Brattleboro Memorial Hospital offers free prostate screening clinics each year. The tests will include a PSA blood test and a digital rectal exam. The free screenings being provided by BMH detect prostate cancer, the second leading cancer killer among American men.

To be eligible for this screening, the patient must meet one of the following sets of criteria: patient must be 50-70 years old, and not have had a PSA blood test for more than one year; or the individual must be 40-50 years old, not have had a PSA blood test for more than one year, and have had a family history of prostate cancer or be of African American descent.

Individuals must pre-register for this screening. To learn the date of the next screening, or to get yourself on the list, call 251-8425. Appointments are limited and are offered on a first come, first serve basis for those men who meet the eligibility requirements.
