SESSION – "LETTING GO OF STRESS" OFFERED
AT BMH
A free stress management seminar is presented in the Spring and Fall of the
year. The informational session is scheduled for the same day of the week,
and the same time (5:00-6:30 pm), as the 6-week stress management class
which starts (in Spring 2008 only) 2 weeks following this free seminar. They
are all held in the Brew Barry Conference Center at Brattleboro Memorial
Hospital (unless othewise noted). The free seminar at BMH is called "Letting
Go of Stress" and is facilitated by Brattleboro psychotherapist Marc Cohen,
MA.
At the seminar, Cohen will offer practical guides
to stress reduction and then provide clear, practical
instruction on how to reduce and manage stress. He will
talk about enhancing self-awareness, and discuss how
stress can contribute to a whole host of physical and/or
emotional problems.
Marc Cohen, MA, is a psychotherapist in private practice
in Brattleboro. He is a consultant at BMH and teaches
stress reduction in the hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation
program and in other institutional and corporate settings.
He was director of the Southern Illinois University
Wellness Center for 11 years, served on the staff of
the University of Massachusetts Medical Center’s
Stress Reduction Clinic, and is a co-coordinator and
faculty member of Omega Institute’s Wellness Program.
This free session is designed both for beginners and
as a helpful review for those who have attended previous
stress reduction workshops at BMH or elsewhere. It also
could serve as an introductory course for the six-session
stress reduction series with starts the week following
this free session.
Registration is necessary for the six-week class.
To register, or for insurance details or other information,
call (802) 257-0319. In addition to covering the fee
for the six two-hour sessions, pre-payment of $150 covers
an audio tape and all written materials.
The individual seminar however is a free community
service as are the other single-session programs offered
by BMH and the Retreat. Registration for this and other
BMH health education seminars is requested by calling
(802) 257-8877.
