Development Office Sends Staff Member for Grant Training
Tracy
Boucher, member of the staff of the Brattleboro Memorial
Hospital Development Office, attended a grant writing
training program earlier this year. This five-day workshop,
called Grantsmanship Training Program, covers such topics
as the components of a proposal, researching funding
sources, and writing and reviewing proposals.
Offered since 1972 by The Grantsmanship Center of
Los Angeles (CA), these courses on grant proposal writing
have been attended by more than 110,000 nonprofit and
government agency staff. Attendees learn step-by-step
instruction and practical exercises through all stages
of a grant proposal including studying funding sources,
preparing a complete proposal in a small group setting,
and identifying likely funding sources. They then present
the proposal for review and receive feedback from the
trainer and fellow participants.
Boucher says she found this ‘roll-up-your-sleeves’
type of immersion training extremely effective and practical…that
it took theory that they then had to put into practice.
“I benefited greatly from it,” said Boucher.
