BMH “Clicks for Foodbank” Campaign Raises Awareness About Food Insecurity

Brattleboro Memorial Hospital filled seven grocery bags with canned items for those in need in Windham County thanks to the participation of more than 100 people in its “Clicks for Foodbank” campaign.

During the month of June, BMH pledged to donate one canned item to Vermont Foodbank for every new “Like” its Facebook page received. Users who were already connected to facebook.com/BMHVT could contribute by sharing information about “Clicks for Foodbank” on their own wall.

All items were donated to the Brattleboro distribution center of the Vermont Foodbank, which serves Windham County, Bennington County, and parts of Windsor County, says BMH Communications Specialist Nicole Zinn.

“Our goal was to raise awareness about the connection between food insecurity and healthcare,” says Zinn. She added that in the past year BMH had seen an increasing number patients needing treatment for diabetes that also needed referrals to local food programs. “We thank everyone who participated in our efforts to combat hunger in our community.”
