Brattleboro Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome new physician assistant Maureen Mahoney, PA-C, ATC, to the Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine department.
Mahoney’s experience includes working as a physician assistant at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Keene and at Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend. Previously, she was the head athletic trainer at Wellsley College in Massachusetts.
Mahoney completed the Physician Assistant Program at Cornell University Weill Medical College in New York City. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sports science and athletic training from Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire, and a Master of Arts in Teaching, School of Health Professions at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut.
“Maureen is an excellent addition to the BMH Orthopaedic practice,” says Bonnie McKellar, vice president of Physician Services and Business Development at BMH. “She is versed in common orthopaedic problems and in the management of orthopaedic patients with chronic medical illness such as, but not limited to, diabetic neuropathy, vitamin D deficiency, and chronic pain. She also has extensive practice in the area of sports medicine and podiatric care.”
BMH Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine includes board-certified orthopaedic surgeons Drs. Elizabeth McLarney, Jon Thatcher, and William Vranos. Together, they take care of acute injuries and chronic conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, and nerves).
