Laboratory

All Patients - Please Note:
You can get your lab work - blood drawn or specimen dropped off - almost immediately inside the convenient covered entrance of the Richards Building, Mondays through Fridays, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Saturday lab hours are 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon. (This entry is around the back side of the building, where there is ample parking on both sides of the covered entrance.) Simply come in the door and on the right you will see a large reception area where there are Patient Registration offices for all services in the Richards Building including the Lab. No appointment is necessary.

Patient Registration and Lab Waiting AreaOnce you are registered for the lab, you'll take your paperwork to the lab window toward the far side of the reception area in the Richards Building. You'll either be taken in for your test, or the clerk will suggest that you take a seat to wait for your turn.

Lab Testing Hours of Operation
The laboratory is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for Inpatient and ED testing. However, we are staffed for outpatients and routine testing as noted above. Appointments are not necessary when coming in for laboratory testing during routine outaptient hours. However, please remember to stop by Patient Registration prior to reporting for your test.

Testing Requirements
The State law requires that any laboratory testing performed can only be done when ordered by a physician or allied health professional. Patients should have the yellow laboratory order form that the physician has filled out with them when coming in for testing. Make sure the order form has your correct information on it including:

What happens to your test results?
All patient test results are protected and confidential. The laboratory will give out results only to the ordering physician or allied health care professional who has requested the test. If it was noted on the order form to send the results to another physician this will also be done. If the patient wants to receive the results, they must sign an "Authorization for release of information" form.

After the physicians receive the results, they will follow-up with you. There are many factors that affect the results, and your health professional will be best able to interpret them for you.
