Governor Shumlin visited BMH today to view the new energy kiosks installed outside the ED’s ambulance dock. Steve Gordon, CEO/President of BMH; Rob Prohaska, Director of Plant Services at BMH and Jeff Seyler, CEO of the American Lung Association of the Northeast were also speakers at the presentation.
BMH is the first US hospital to install anti-idling kiosk stations for ambulances. The kiosks were installed last fall to provide a place for ambulances to keep their on-board medical equipment operational without having to idle their engines. Not only does this technology reduce an ambulance’s consumption of fossil fuel and engine wear, but it will cut down on the exhaust and noise pollution in the emergency department area.
