Memorial Hospital has initiated a comprehensive Breast
Care Program offering diagnostic treatment and support
services to patients who have questions regarding their
breast health. The Breast Care Program was developed
to help women with breast concerns navigate the healthcare
system. It may also be helpful to patients who have
other questions regarding their breast health. The program
will support physical, emotional, and spiritual recovery
on an individualized, discipline basis. It is staffed
by a Breast Health Coordinator, Gloria Solar, RN, (pictured
below), along with medical director Joseph Rosen, MD,
BMH board-certified general surgeon. Dr. Rosen has had
a special interest in the management of breast disease
for almost 20 years. The other BMH general surgeons
also offer surgical treatment of breast disease.
The new BMH program will serve as a resource for patients
and their families to answer questions, access specialists,
and coordinate additional services which may be needed
by them. Solar’s knowledge and caring provide
support and education to help patients make informed
decisions about issues regarding breast health. Agnes
Mikijaniec, ARNP, nurse practitioner with a hemotology/oncology
specialty, provides oversight for the program.
