Inpatient Units

The Medical/Surgical Units at BMH provide inpatient care to the medical, surgical, and pediatric population. Cardiac and vital signs monitoring (telemetry) is available for patients moving from the Special Care Unit out to the Medical/Surgical floor. These 2nd and 3rd floor units are designed for patients with general medical conditions and for pre- and post-operative patient care.

The Med/Surg Units’ nurse leadership has worked collaboratively with the BMH Physical Therapy Department and with the orthopedic surgeons to create and institute a standard of care patterned after evidenced-based practice for patients receiving surgery for total join replacements. This care involves a pre-emptive approach to pain management that enables increased patient comfort and earlier mobilization. In addition, a Total Joint Class is being planned for patients to receive all needed information prior to hospitalization for a total joint replacement.
