Lymphedema is an abnormal accumulation of protein-rich fluid in the interstitial tissue which results in swelling, most commonly in the extremities, and occasionally in other areas of the body. Lymphedema may arise when structural damage to the lymphatic system occurs and may be a side effect of breast cancer treatment, although it can be associated with other cancers as well. This seminar will discuss the lymphatic system, prevention of lymphedema and the management of this condition through Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT). Information/registration: 802-257-8877.
