he/she will want to have one or more diagnostic tests
performed to rule out various situations. Brattleboro
Memorial Hospital cardiac services provide a full array
of diagnostic services. Burton D. Tepfer, M.D.,
and Michael Cohan, D.O., F.A.C.C.
are the cardiologists on our medical staff.
If
your primary care physician recommends that you be tested,
he/she may call for one of the following tests provided
through the BMH Cardio/Respiratory Department:
• Electrocardiogram (EKG)
• Routine Cardiac Stress Testing
• Holter Monitor Recording and Scanning Services
• Cardiac Event Monitoring
• Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring
Testing
is provided Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. by appointment with the written order of a physician/allied

Your
doctor also may order tests provided through the BMH
Radiology Department which includes the following:

Stress testing with Nuclear Imaging
• Stress testing with Echocardiography
• Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE)

appointment with the written order of a physician/allied

Testing
Requirements
Each test may require different preparation. Please
discuss what you should do with the person with whom
you make the appointment or with the ordering physician.

the hospital, stop at patient registration/admitting
near the main entrance to register.
What
happens to my test results?
All tests are interpreted by a physician. If the doctor
discovers something you need to know at the time of
the test he will tell you. Most tests results take an
average of seven working days to complete. Call your
doctor for test results.
Cardiac
Rehab
The Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation program at BMH offers
a comprehensive 12-week phase II outpatient program
and an exercise-only phase III maintenance program.
These programs are specially designed for people recovering
from heart attacks or surgery or for people with heart
