What is Physical Therapy?
It’s a personal wellness plan tailored for you
Your physical therapist (PT) will examine you and develop a plan of care using a variety of treatment techniques that help you move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. Your physical therapist can also help you prevent loss of mobility and motion by developing a fitness- and wellness-oriented program tailored to your specific needs.
Your PT is your partner in health
A physical therapist is your partner throughout your journey to restoring and maintaining motion so that you can function at your personal best.
Physical Therapy at BMH
Referrals for physical therapy may be for a specific body part or for something as generalized as weakness or trouble with balance. Your physical therapist will examine you and develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to you. Treatment options include:
- therapeutic exercise
- manual techniques
- electrical stimulation
- endurance training
- taping, and more.
Although you can make an appointment to see a PT directly in the State of Vermont, BMH encourages patients to get a referral from their physician or primary care provider (PCP) as this often helps in getting insurance coverage for the visit. It also allows the therapist to contact your PCP should they have any concerns.
